Why can't people with permanent visa in Australia vote?

The law requires you to to qualify for Australian citizenship

before you can vote.Many permanent residents have the chance  to take out citizenship but dont.When you can get citizenship get it then you can vote.

because voting is a privilege and a right for Citizens of the country .....

imagine if all foreigners could vote in another country ?

it would be unconstitutional ..........

would a foreign resident in a country that could vote ?care about the future ? as much as a citizen and be concerned about the welfare for that country ? not sure ?

ah - you're not a citizen - just a visitor

People with permanent visas are not citizens and they cannot vote under the Constitution of Australia.  They are only privileged to stay but not given to right to vote.
