Why can't sound waves travel from a satellite to Earth? I think its because sound waves require a medium through which to pass. Am I correct?

  1. Yes, you are correct.

Sound waves need to travel through a medium, most usually air: Satellites will slow down and drop if they are low enough to encounter the air. So they can only go where there is no air. So no way can we get sound waves from a satellite.

  2. yes. sound is actually the vibration of the hammer bone on the eardrum to create that you need air movement being that there is no air in space thats not possible
