Question:

Why can't the CFL and the NFL get along?

How about the CFL have its season May to August, playoffs in September (so we won't freeze while watching games), then the NFL can be starting in September. That way, there can be CFL "summer football" and NFL "fall football", each league with teams in both the US and Canada. Cities can have teams from both leagues too.

Since North Americans love football so much. Why not?

  1. I wouldn't say North Americans love football. I'd say Americans love football.

Most Canadians couldn't care less about the CFL or the NFL unless the Grey Cup or Superbowl is on TV. I still consider football to be more of a fringe sport in Canada.

I actually enjoy the sport, but, let's face it, Canadians as a whole aren't that open-minded to anything outside of hockey.

But, hey, if we're going to be narrow-minded with the sports we watch, what better game than hockey?!

    Cheers.

  2. because it wont work

NFL is trying to dominate football world, and CFL is trying to hold its own. CFL has been Canada's game for a long long time, and so has the NFL in the states. Asking the leagues to co-exist might seem like a good idea, but there are many problems. Its just not realistic. people in Canada respect their own game and I dont think people in the states will be thrilled either to be forced to watch CFL cuz theres nothing on.

  3. Personally, I like the fact that come September, I can watch CFL, NFL, and NCAA football, all in the same weekend.  And playoff games in the winter weather of Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary are what makes the CFL distinctly Canadian.  So I completely disagree with you in moving the season up.  I mean, how many Americans are going to watch Canadian football, anyways?

  4. I don't really see how it would work, because there isn't enough incentive to co-exist between both leagues. Canadian Football is distinct; a much faster paced, and often times more exciting them NFL football. NFL is just more commercialized, and is the US number one sport, whereas CFL comes probably second to hockey, so consider the following. I love CFL football, though, and I'm glad they'll be showing games on ESPN. I like now that I can see some games here in the US. For example, I am a huge Steelers fan, but since they are stinking up the field with the Brownies right now, I'm choosing to watch a live broadcast of the East Semi-final.

    GO 'RIDERS!

  5. That sounds good.  How about the two merge

and call it North American Football League(NAFL).Start in August and play the first half of

the season in Canada.  Second half play south

of the border.  Of course the playoffs would

have to be played south of the border 'cause

it's too dang cold up there where you are.

  6. The only way they can help each other is by the CFL being the minor league for the NFL, but Canadians want national pride!

  7. is there football in canda anymore that nfl europe folded?

  8. It's already shifted enough that when the NFL gets down to the crunch the CFL is done.  CFL starts in June and ends in November.  This works for me as a fan of both leagues.  Besides would you have the CFL go up against the NHL playoffs?  I think they managed to nestle it in nicely between the playoffs of what are undoubtedly the biggest two competitors for fans and their money in Canada.
