Why can't the French build an amusement park on Gettysburg?

Just wondering why it's ok for us to build Disneyland Euro on an area of significant political and historical relevence to France? While most Americans would be pissed if they built a themepark on Gettysburg.

  1. ha, what would they call their rides Picketts Charge, Devils Den, honestly theres no real good ride names, and since gettysburg is a national park where thousands of men died fighting to save the country and from the souths perspective fighting for their confederate states of america,  those rides would be haunted anyway , and would scare the c**p out of people like me.

  2. I don't know where Disney Euro was built, but I'm assuming that the French didn't care if Disney built it where they did,  because it really wasn't "an area of significant political and historical relevence (sp) to France" as you say that it was.  Since Gettysburg is actually a National Park, there is no way that France will ever get permission to build ANYTHING in Gettysburg.  You don't really think that France would allow America to come over and dump a themepark on some parcel of land that is precious to them do you?  We wouldn't allow them to do it to us, and neither would they allow us to do it to them.  So I don't think your information about WHERE the park was built, is accurate.

  3. hmmm obviously you do not know what is contained within the walls of Disneyland Paris, so here is a lesson so you will no longer be ignorant!

The Parks Icon is Sleeping Beauty's Castle which is based on a FRENCH story by  Charles Perrault.

Jules Verne a french author wrote, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea which is in Tomorrowland, From the Earth to the Moon (which is the basis for Space Mountain).

H.G. Wells was British, and wrote "The Time Machine" which no longer has an attraction there, but none the less a lot of the actual design in Tomorrowland for the buildings, themes and atmosphere are taken from those 2 EUROPEAN authors!

Then there is Alice's Courious Labyrinth and the Teacups which is based on the books by a British Author Lewis Carrol

Then there is the Storybook Land Canal that shows scenic scenes of classic EUROPEAN stories.

Then there is King Arthurs Carosel which is based off the British story of King Arthur.

Then there is Pinochios Daring Journey which is based on a book by the Italian author Carlo Collodi.

Then there is Snow White's Scary Adventures which is based on the Brothers Grimm story which is German

Then Peter Pan's Flight which is based on a book by J. M. Barrie an Authro from the United Kingdom

Then there is It's a Small World which celebrates the great and wonderful diversity of all cultures across the globe!

Then there is Swiss Family Treehouse which is based on the book by the Swiss author Johann David Wyss.

Then there is Pirates of the Carribean, which is based on the FRENCH pirates and people who used to occupy the area that is now Lousiana, and the Carribean!

I hope this helps you understand that Disneyland Paris, along with Disneyland, Disney World, Tokoyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland and FILLED with stories from FRANCE, and EUROPE!

So stop with the canned arguments and do a little research before you try to start an arguement!

Also Marne-la-Vallée has no real historical value to France, so you cannot even equate the development of a theme park in Marne-la-Vallée to Gettysburg!
