My theory: They all got vasectomies during the week off, LOL.

They better get it reversed tomorrow or this series is over.

  1. I have to agree with Zap.  You have Crosbys line playing against the eventual Norris Trophy winner and 2 Selke finalists.  Then you got Malkin going against Kronwall and Stuart.  Malkin is obviously better than both, but hes been  falling apart against those type of players.  It worked for Philly at the end of their series and its working for Detroit.  Hes getting too emotional and frustated by the physical play.  Thats my opinion at least.

  2. That's the worst joke I've heard all month. It's not anywhere near funny...or insulting for that matter. It's just....there.

Actually, Vinny, a lot of good teams put pucks on net just to play the numbers. You put enough on, a one or two are bound to get in. Unless, you have a team full of snipers that is...

  3. Detriot is just overplaying them in every aspect of the game. Next game, the Penguins have to come in with emotion as if they want to win this cup or else this series may end too soon...

  4. Very simple question to answer, the wings are stifling the pens in the neutral zone big time and the forwards are coming back to support the defense ALL the time thus not forcing Osgood to have to make many saves. Look at the shots on net Detroit has allowed all through the playoffs. A simple equation but a brilliant strategy. No holes in that armor so far.

  5. Detroit's best offensive players are also their best defensive players. They also have depth on their side. When a team can throw Helm, Hudler and Fillpula out on 3rd and 4th line duty, you know you've got a steep hill to climb.

The Wings' top line has shut down the Pens' top line AND scored goals. What did the Crosby line have to show tonight? Three minor penalties before the game got out of hand in the 3rd...THAt'S IT.

The Pens have mustered a meager 41 shots in 2 games and Fleury has looked ordinary against a powerful, balanced attack.

Goaltending was the only potential achilles heel for the Wings but, Osgood has been more than adequate in net.

Pittsburgh has to hope that some home cooking and the last change will allow Crosby's line to get away from Zetterberg's. If they can achieve that, it'll be up to Crosby to show that he can shake the rest of the Detroit roster.

  6. Well we know the Penguins had a long rest until the final. They didn't play in so long so they probably rusty. Look at what the Red Sox did to the Rockers in the WS last year?

  7. The Penguins are a team that only shoot when they have a quality chance.  Not going to work against the Wings, they need to shoot, and shoot often.  The first period looked BAD they couldn't get a shot playing even strength.  I think there first even strength shot was 15:10 into the second period. Yikes!

See Nashville, Jordan Tootoo scored 2 goals.  Every team will get a lucky bounce.

  8. It's a hockey lesson so far - the guys who have been there teaching the young whelps a thing or two.  Even the young guys of the Wings are doing it, but they've played with the experienced gusy all year along.

Pittsburgh might take a game in PITT, but the Wings are on their game, and I think will not be denied.

I find it funny that people still say goaltender could be the weak link on the armor of the Wings.  I mean, even if we ignore their records in all previous seasons, doesn't the best GAA in the league (Osgood) and the #3 GAA (Hasek) through the regular season, and the goalie with the best record/GAA/SV% in the playoffs pretty much mean you have the BEST, not something to be concerned about.  People keep saying, "If Osgood can keep it up..."  Well, he's kept it up for about 14 years, and this year has been playing HOT since October.  I just don't get why people refuse to acknowledge that, even if you don't think he's all that, he's having a year, not a stretch.

  9. the red wings defense is gross, and alot of wide and fanned shots from the penguins.

  10. Pitt is not used to playing Western Conf hockey. (you can tell, because rather than adjusting their style, they "switch lines, and bring in Gary Roberts". look, you can change the names, but if you keep trying to play the same way against Detroit, it won't work. The Ducks' style works. Obviously the Blackhawks have us down too. Shoot, Dallas even gave us a better run, because they 1) understand playoff hockey better ... and beat the Ducks and Sharks, and 2) play Western Conf style, 3) at least were able to get quality scoring chances, and score at least once in the first two games.

the Pens didn't have to face much adversity during their playoff run.

this is a lot like the 95 finals, except this time, the wings ...

    are the devils.

  11. And the Wings must have taken an extra dose of viagra during that week off ;)

Hopefully the Pens will get their s*** together once they're on home ice. Right now this series is depressing me.

  12. three words ozzie and defense

  13. Hi

Zap I mostly agree with you, but I noticed at the end of the game Draper was out there a lot more against Crosby line.  I don't know much about Therrien, though I would say he appears to be a young coach.  Babcock seems to be getting into his head.  I thought in game one he was panicking to soon  by putting Malkin on the Crosby line.  In the second game he didn't get his players under control.  I understand how they are frustrated, yet you have to stay in control, its the only way they have a chance.

    Thank You

  14. You can all say what you want, BUT the fact is Detroit is a better team, and the OZ is all that!!

Quit trying to make excuses for the Penguins poor playing!!

    GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. hahahahaahahha  yeah I've heard better jokes from the short bus driver..but enough about your mom..lol sorry that was inspired by the Miller commerical..ha!  jk btw don't get all pizzy..

My theory is the RW D has been outstanding and the Pens aren't helping themselves by going to the sin bin too many times .Malone esp. needs a dunce cap.

  16. Because Pittsburgh only has 2 guys who can score. Detroit is just babysitting Crosby and Malkin all game, so there is noone left to put the puck in the net.

  17. This is a really simple answer if you have seen more than three Penguin games this post season, the Penguins score by driving down the middle of the neutral zone, and continuing to the goal line. The Red Wings have taken that away, but the Pens continue to try. The Pens are not shooting because they're not getting any looks (good, bad, or ugly) at the net. Hard to win if you don't score, hard to score if you don't shoot, hard to shoot if you don't have the puck in the attacking zone. Perfectly executed simplistic style by the Wings.

  18. They ran in to the Big Red Machine.

  19. Penguins are not playing smart on offense and the Wings keep taking advantage of it.

  20. they are playing the best defense, best defensive forwards and ozzie is doing what he is paid for.

  21. Detroits D won't let Pit get any chances. They are shutting down Crosby, Malkin, and Hossa. Malkin didn't even get a shot in game 2. Detroit is just the better team depthwise and I think we all learned that Zetterberg and Datsyuk are just as good as Crosby and Malkin. Zetterberg and Datsyuk do things that Crosby and Malkin can't dream of doing.

    GO WINGS!!!

  22. The Wings are one of the few teams that can play first string quality all the way to the bottom of the bench, that gives them an edge.  I've watched most of the playoffs, all teams, and am really surprised at how outclassed the Pens are in this game, They looked MUCH better earlier in the playoffs. That being said, we have yet to come against them with them having home ice, and they havent been beaten at home for months. I still expect the Wings to pull it out, but we'll get more of a run for our money in pitt than we have in detroit.

  23. Redwings are just too darn good
