I mean, they got the NL East last year, but they are a really talented bunch..but can't seem to get over that hump to get them to a possible World Series at least.

What is it?

  1. They have no pitching after Hammels and 4 words "THE NEW YORK METS".

  2. Well for 1...they dont have that 1-2 Pitching Rotation Punch

theyy just have Cole Hamels who hasnt been doing as good as last year (maybe Kyle Kendrick can fulfull that role?)

Another thing is Jimmy Rollins isnt producing like he did last year, I mean he is still good but he really just isnt acting like the catalyst that he has been

Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, and Chase Utley have been inconsistent this year and not been playing like they can.

But the main reason is they have about no pitching about...Thats why they need to make a move within the next few days before the trade deadline..

I wouldnt worry about it for right now...I mean the Mets are hot now  but soon the Phillies will get hot and everybody will start picking THEM again to win it.

    But I would be patient

  3. Let's put this in proper perspective.

Last year they didn't win, the Mets gave them a gift, and when they got it, they crapped on it and went 3 straight to Colorado.

This year, they're not going to get any gifts. The Mets have better pitching and are going to win the NL East.

  4. Pitching...Pitching wins championships and thats something the Phils don't have...Until our cheap ownership cracks open the check book and gets us some better pitching,we'll continue to be like this.

  5. They have all stars that look great on paper but there others guys do not get it done.  And Howard strikes out left and right.

  6. The New York Mets

  7. they will, they will

  8. They won the NL East last year with 89 wins.  Not very impressive.  They weren't overly good last year, just lucky that the Mets collapsed.

They're not overly good this year, either, so don't expect them to get over that hump with some serious help.  Their pitching is terrible.  45 year old Jamie Moyer?  Brett Myers, who demoted HIMSELF to the minors?  Adam Eaton and his career 4.79 ERA?  Kyle Kendrick, who had a misleading 10-4 3.87 ERA as a rookie despite his .280 BA against?  Sophomore slumps happen when hitters get used to what you throw if it's not that great.  Joe Blanton is not the answer, with his career 4.27 ERA and .273 BA against.  The only halfway decent starter they have is Cole Hamels, and he's a number 2 starter on 20 of the 30 teams in baseball.

  9. i think the two primary problems are that the team does not respond to charlie manuel, and that they haven't had enough pitching

when you look last year at the guys on their staff and see some of the guys they had to turn to, even guys like kyle kendrick who turned out to be good, they really didn't get any consistency from anyone on their staff, and this year really isn't different with the exception of brad lidge...and also, i think that team just does not respond to charlie manuel at all, when you see a star player like jimmy rollins having to be pulled from the game for not hustling and showing up late for a game, it tells you that the clubhouse atmosphere is not where it should be
