Question:

Why can't the allies of the US protect themselves from Iran?

McCain has called for the US to build a defense shield in Europe to protect our allies from possible attacks on Iran. Why can't these countries use their own money to fund such a program? Why should Americans fund a program that would have no benefit to the US from a security standpoint (since Iran does not have the capacity to attack the US using conventional weapons).

  1. The world has become used to the US protecting them. That is why Europe has become so weak. France has infected the EU with cowardice.

  2. I can't foresee a situation in which they'd need to. I find it hard to believe that Iran will ever develop some serious beef with Bulgaria, Romania, or Poland or some other country that they hardly ever have contact with anyway. I think the Russians may have a point on this, it seems to be aimed at them, not Iran. If Israel and/or the US does something to Iran, I doubt Iran will try and attack Hungary or the Czech Republic.

  3. Our government is more concerned about the welfare of the world and winning hearts and minds than they are Americans.  You notice they still haven't even begun on the illegal immigration problem and allow anarchy on our borders.  They also campaign overseas.  What benefit is that to us?  I understand the issue of not letting other countries fall to our enemies, because then you have one big enemy, but that's not working anyway.  The more we give, the more the world hates us.  I think our government believes world citizens are just like Americans.  They're not.

Americans are being used as the worker bees and cannon fodder for the world.

  4. Europe can protect themselves.

But if they can get McCain and the US to pay for it, why not?

Remember, McCain's entire life has been about war.

Just know what you're voting for.

We as a nation need to protect ourselves here first. Let the people that hate us try to attack us here on our home soil.

9/11 proved that point. We went after Bin Laden but we just haven't finished the job (too many other wars to worry about).

We cannot go sticking our noses everywhere else in the world unless we are immediately threatened.

  5. ok go read what George Washington say about

31-42 Foreign relations, avoiding permanent foreign alliances

then go to ask our congress why they never listen to him

  6. Oh, man, what can I say that hasn't already been said by a previous answerer? He REALLY nailed it ("skewed", I believe....sorry if I got that wrong.)  It's military strategy, hidden agendas, and our "politically correct" poiticians having NO balls.  Sure, helping others protect themselves is fine, but there's a point that we've hit where the attitude is more like the political mess in theEU mixed in with the cowardly ways of the UN. Look at Israel.  Now that country has some balls.

You just made me think of a question I'll be posting in a few minutes.

  7. Iran is no threat to the U.S. or to Israel. That is propaganda. Besides, why do you think they need to build a defence shield in Europe? To protect people from Iran? Iran has never threatened anybody including Israel. They're just making excuses to bolster military in Europe in case Israel attacks Iran and Russia retaliates because Russia has threatened the U.S. that they will not allow an attack on Iran without repercussions. George Bush is a war mongering piece of garbage and that's that. Don't let his b.s. fool you.
