it's not like they can not afford. They have millions and millions of their own money. So why do we have to pay?

  1. The queen and royal familly attract hundreds of thousands of tourist every year which generates millions in revenues so actually she does pay for herself.

  2. I dunno, but who needs a effin queen anyway? She doesn't do anything.

Haha! I like your "Moan every christmas" addition.

Really, it's obvious the old hag is useless. Does she even have any influence politically?

The guy "SLIDESHOW" down there claims that the queen does alot, but doesn't name anything she actually does.

Having your ugly head on souveniers and being 80 is not a job. Douche-bag. I will kill you and eat your prospective fetus's.

  3. Peer pressure my friend. We pay to keep the rich rich over here in the land of the free, as we're told at least. As a working class dog here in the states, I'm often called upon to feed and entertain people with five times my personal wealth at my own expense. It's because we as a collective group of herd animals try to get along to keep the herd moving. I feel sorry for these rich wankers. Their life has no value outside the dollar sign attached to their name. But the Queen now, that's another story. The wealth is more a function of status instead of intellect and you guys voted to keep her instead of hacking her head off. Apparently the majority want to pay for the idea of a person being more important because of their inbreeding. I'm a hillbilly, and we kinda look down on and are ashamed by the same phenomena that brought you royalty. God save us all!

    EXTRA

I just want to apologize for entering into a subject I had little understanding of. I still believe what I stated, but after seeing Michael and Sideshows comments, I understand the need/greed factor and she does work a lot. I knew a Belgian Ex-Pat living in Canada who wrote the Queen and received a reply from the Minister of whatever Beauracracy explaining her reaction to his letter and her signutare thanking him for the correspondence. That's pretty cool to me and she obviously pumps the tourist trade. 66p is cheap for something that works. None of our politicians do..

  4. 66p is a meagre  sum to pay out for Yer Majesty, when yer

think we have had to put up with Poofters, likes Me Son-in -law Anthony Booth, acclaimed actor ?

    Common as muck

& yere likes of that daughter of his, yer Know Cherie, who was married to that bloke,Tony, with the colegate smile, who took us all to War.

Now  , yer Majesty , well she's got Class, not like the

People today like Yer Gordon Brown's, who are only ruling,& in it for dosh, & Popularirty ?

Abstract from Alf Garnett's Memoirs, Til Death us do Part,

printed in the News Of the World.

  5. Apparently, they don't want to spend their own money so they live off our taxes. That makes them the biggest dole scroungers in the land!!! Plus we cry that the NHS is short money yet we waste our taxes keeping this lot in their extravigant lives!! Unreal!!!!!!!!!!

  6. They're royal!  Sent from God!  Hahaha, who knows.  They're entitled to everything.  Elitist bloodlines who usher in the New World Order!

    \\  Golgothor.

  7. Becuase they are cheapskates and we have the fund the trips to Mahiki and Boujis.

  8. Their job seems to get paid, for no obvious reason.

They rule us and we have to pay for it. They travel and we pay for it. They never had a real job if got any job ever. The only achievement they did is that they were born from a king and a queen.

  9. I'm pretty sure a President/Republic Government wouldbe more expensive

  10. Because we all pay 66p each - that is nothing - and she does do a bit of work and have to put up with people moaning at her even though she would much prefer to f*ck off to a private life and spend her private money how she pleased like every other rich person

  11. because there are many stupid people who are willing to pay for them

  12. Another moan about the Royals. Yes we all pay a huge sum of 66 pence a year and what do we get for our money. An institution that even the Americans have not got The queen is a figure head of Britain attracting millions of £ 's from the tourist trade. Ok we get rid of this and have a president perhaps like Bush. Mugabe, Castro, No thanks I much prefer the system we have now. Lets keep the £ and the Royals and our independence.

  13. The British monarchy is a feudal institution, which means it's OLD, OLD, OLD. When William the Conquerer moved in from Normandy he basically unified the English nation under his ownership and dolled out land to barons to help him rule. But in principle it all belonged to HIM as well as the sea bed around the island. This is important background because by the time of George III, the monarch got moneys and rent for his/her lands.property and with this money had to run the civil services, the military, etc. George III made a deal with His Government and Parliament: he would give up the moneys/rent from his lands to the Treasury and in return, the Parliament would give him an allowance, The Civil List. At the beginning of each reign, the lands revert back to the new soveriegn - from George IV to Victoria to the Edward VIII to the Queen - and they NEGOTIATE the terms. They can take their rents wholly back, in which case they'd be responsible for funding the civil service and military, or they can continue with the Civil List arrangement. So ... depending on how you look at all this: the queen getting any money at all is based on the belief that she owns the UK lands and its seabed. If you agree with this feudal principle, you have it better that she herself is not involved in the Civil Services and paying the military ... but if you think the lands belong to the PEOPLE (who have no government in the UK, since the government is HM Government and appointed & confirmed by her and her alone), you are being robbed.

  14. Excellent point. I hear that the Queen of England is one of the biggest property owners in Manhatten!

  15. 66p per year.

Surely given the amount of money having a royal family pulls into to this country that is a bargain.

Or would rather have President Brown?

  16. Dunno :/

  17. why in your opinion????

  18. 66p a year for the Queen doesn't bother me.   What really get's my goat is the thousands of pounds I am paying in tax to fund benefit scroungers - people who are fully capable of working but choose to let the rest of the country pay for them.  No shame.

  19. I hate to break this to you chum, but the royals DEFINE the British. they are the one collective thing that immediately comes to peoples minds (except for tea) when they hear 'UK', just like the movie stars make Americans stand out. You must pay for that privelege.

  20. No elected official or member of a royal family ever pays for anything him/herself.  That's just the way it is.

  21. God some people are really thick if they think the Queen does nothing.....This is some of what she does.......

Her head adorns millions of souvenirs which are sold to trillions of tourists.  Thus keeping vast numbers of people employed, making this stuff, distributing and selling this stuff through hundreds and hundreds of shops and stalls.

Because she is a women of substance she keeps people interested on our country therefore keeping them visiting in their droves for the last 55/56 years which provides jobs for those who feed, hostel and entertain those visitors.

Because those visitors are interested in the longevity of our royal family they come and visit our historic castles and homes giving yet another income to us and allowing us to keep our history alive and our country interesting.

She is a well respected lady whose work load would terrify most of us if we actually saw day-to-day what she did.  I believe a documentary last year quoted her official engagements for the country at over 500 for the year.  That is a lot.

She nevers goes on holiday for 2 weeks in the middle of summer and lays on the beach reading a book with her mobile phone off the hook.  Even when she is away from Buckingham Palace she will still have to answer state letters and do some work before having a little "me time".

She is over 80 years old and will NEVER retire from her job.

She has provided this country with the standing and prestige that no Primeminister could ever do in both the public domain and the political scene.  And if that costs me 66pence a year I am happy to pay it.

She is a wonderful institution who has served us extremely well through out her time on the throne. She has provided and will continue to provide more income to this country then any other singular person in this country.  You have to look at what she gives us in relation to what she costs us.
