Question:

Why can't there be a tie in gymnastics?

In swimming or running, if you get the same time, you tie and both win a medal. The same is true in most track events. Why not gymnastics? If the judges score two gymnasts the same, is that not a tie? It seems like a dumb rule to me.

  1. The probability for a tie is very slim. :-)

  2. It is an IOC rule not a FIG rule. They don't allow two gold medals.

  3. I think they can only if its not a tied gold-medal win

  4. The IOC won't let it happen in the Olympics. If this would have happened at Worlds they would have both gotten the gold medal.
