there are at least 4 versions of the movie optimus prime figure, and none of them can accurately immitate the robot mode and vehicle mode properly.

while the ironhide figure is PERFECT.

the deluxe class bumblebee is very well done

even the megatron, as bad as the toy is, looks like what's in the movie.

but with optimus prime, the stallwart character, they just can't get it right.

e.g. the leader class has a big hole in the back of the truck

>the voyager class has an even bigger hole in the back of the truck.

> the trans scanning has a perfect truck, but a horribly kibbled robot modehttp://youtube.com/watch?v=7GE-u0788GE&feature=user

its a shame that after amazing us with an awesome extended transformation sequence in the movie, they can't even replicate it in real life.

Wasn't the whole point of this movie to make the transformers more realistic?

  1. I think the problem is that before with the older toys, they designed and built those first, and then they made the cartoons around those toys, so they looked and transformed exactly how they should do, but for the movie the robots were designed first, and made to be realistic with the way they transform, so the toys were designed around them, and that's why so many don't look like they should, as toys are a little limited as to where parts should go when transforming, a special effects designer can figure out where thousands of vehicle parts should go when switching between modes, but a toy designer can't work on that level, maybe they did the best they could under the conditions, to come up with toys based upon such complex models, but I didn't see any movie figure I'd want to really buy.
