Question:

Why can't we clean the ocean?

Aren't there ways of running the ocean along the coasts through some sort of filter, naturally powered by the waves? Can't we put those filters behind ships and clean up patches of the sea that we know we are polluting with our fuels and wastes?

  1. The best thing we should do is let the ocean heal itself.  We may do more harm than good.  It may do more damage because of the drastic change we will put it through again.  The ocean can slowly clean itself where it is not going to shock the h**l out of its inhabitants.  Using filters will also pull out some of the oceans good nutrients and small organisms. The fuel from the ships used for filtering is no good either even though they are filtering.

We should just stay out of the way and let natures clean her house.  Stop making things worse whether it is keep doing what we are doing (making things "dirty") or try to clean it up.

  2. Hmmmm , I don't think we can , not if there is wildlife in the Ocean , plus it will be too big and I will take too much power and money , Great Idea though . The world need more people like you :)

  3. u can if u want to make that difference.

  4. But then what would we do with the stuff we haulked out of the ocean? Likely just take it out and dump it back in.

I like the idea of setting up tidal powered filters, but I wonder what else we would be filtering out, like fish etc.

  5. Thats a good thought, but remember fish may be caught up in the filter and would have to swim around it.

I think our main problem is not cleaning whats already there, but first stopping the people and countries that continue dumping into the ocean.
