Why can't we get rid of cars and just ride asses again?

Why, you want people to be ankle-deep in horseshi+ again? Pollution in the cities was actually much worse before the advent of the automobile due to all the flies and disease being caused by their waste. Although back in those days it was the job of the police to shovel it up, so maybe it would actually give all the d**n cops something productive to do.

I'd just like to mention that contrary to what "nickic2k" says about horses not having power steering (animals which he apparently knows *nothing* about), that isn't true at all. A horse can be steered with a mere light tap from your foot. If you're straining or yanking it around then you're obviously doing something wrong and shouldn't even be on a horse in the first place.

because horses cant go more then 30mph and they cant reverse when you need them too, you dont have power steering with horses.  Also with no central locking its alot easier for someone to steal your horse

Why can't there just be a huge island that lives like the "olden days" including riding horses for transportation.  I love period movies and I would like to experience a different time period like that. They should invent that. Maybe I would appreciate today's world better or maybe I would want to live on the island. I don't know.

yes yes I agree. true it might take longer to go places but how many head on horse accidents or some dieing from a rolled over horse

I was drinking in Tijuana once and I paid money to see a woman ride a horse. I couldn't believe she could do that.

That would be fine until you wanted to buy some horse feed and the store is 15 miles away !! And the store was out because no trucks were allowed to deliver and .....

Saddle sores, the cost of vets and feed, and grooming, the long rides to and from work, the manure pollution, ride-by-shootings, horse-rage, stage coach robberies, and incessant moose drool. that's why.

I hate riding horses....but a horse could ride me. That would be fun to see!

No cup holders...CD players..and the lines would be to slow at McDonald's drive through..But I would gladly sell my gas eater and go back to a Horse...LOL

Think about it! 100 million horses would put out about 10 million tons of horse c**p which would pollute as much as cars do. What would be next? Retrofits for catalytic converters on their bung holes? The methane gas would be so thick you could run the possibility of explosions in urban areas with no air circulation.

My 35 mile commute would require about four hours on horse back at a full gallop. I would be unable to work without resting for several hours and then it would be time to go home.

Horses are definitely history, there are plenty of other ways to move people around. We just have to invest in the technology and be willing to get out of our cars.
