Why can't we get this mini-van here in the USA?

It gets 43.4mpg / 38.1mpg.

I would say a LOT better than the c*** sold here in the USA which the only thing getting this good of gas is the geo metros.

umm there are more than a handful of cars that get that gas mileage.

Honda Insight, Toyota Prius, some diesel VWs, Honda Civic VX Hatchback, other hybrids.

As far as why we don't get it nobody likes minivans or diesels here.

It probably wouldn't pass the US standards for safety and pollution control among other things.

**Edit: I did NOT say the US standards are better than any other country. All countries have different standards, and if that vehicle doesn't meet those of the US it could be a reason we are not seeing it here. Even if the standards are higher than ours.

(I lived in Europe for 3 and a half years, I KNOW the standards are higher there)

The uk and other places do not have the same emmision standards the us does. Not saying one is better than the other at all just different. I saw pictures of a toyota diesel tacoma with a solid front axle. If into 4x4 that is great. But not here in the us because of emmissions and the not thinking there is a big enough market. Between these two things and some odd safety requirements it keeps us from getting lots of stuff. I would ike an fz6 yamaha but all they sell in the us is an fz6s which is not what i want. I know your feelings.

Great question and it should asked of the big 3 American

automakers.  This vehicle is produced by Ford!!!!!! I'm not a journalist but why haven't they wrote or reported on these vehicles. There is another one called  the air car( yep ) the Air Car.. and yes it runs on air now being sold ... Look it up over 1000000 hits to this site not one report of it in the states ..Except a little blip in Jan or Feb issue of Readers Digest....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmqpGZv0Y... You should get a 1000 points for a great question and we the people the consumers need some answers NOW

b/c the uk has a higher demand for these types of vehicles than the USA does.
