Okay, we all have freedom of speech and religion right?? Well, not as long as they keep shoving religion in the government and politics! Why should one have to swear on the Bible and use money that has God printed on it. That's not even mentioning the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance. I don't have a problem with doing any of these despite not being religious at all, but come on, I don't think they should be mixed! What do you think??

  1. "I don't have a problem with doing any of these despite not being religious at all" yet you're going out of your way to complain about them.

What country's national anthem do you sing?  The USA's national anthem doesn't even mention God or religion, and they don't use the Bible to swear on in court or make you swear to God.  Maybe you should do more research before you rant next time.

  2. The United States was based on the principals of Christianity. The Constitution was based on the principals of Chrisianity. It is the standard by which up until recently all laws were made. The fact that the word God is on our money displays those initial principals. "In God We Trust" is the greatest statement that any person can make.

It is unfortunate that those who do not believe in God could not be sent for a visit to a country where God is being denied. They would soon learn that all the freedoms they consider to be their "right" would disappear. You can thank your lucky stars (considering you don't want God in your life) that you have the privilege to live where God is allowed.

  3. ...because religion is used by politicians to keep them in power.

  4. I could care less about the money and songs that include the word GAWD.

  5. Because politics and religion are who we are

  6. Because the neo-cons want the whole world to be just like them. Cowering sheep !!

  7. Because:

    1) Aristotle was right: "Man *is* a poltical animal."

    and

    2) Religion is all about morality and ultimate questions, ... and not so ultimate answers.

  8. This nation is doomed without God and our savior Jesus Christ. I personally would like to see MORE mentioning of God in our lives, including our politics.

  9. Funny Stalin and Hitler thought the same thing!

    says a lot about tolerance.

  10. Because religion is ALWAYS politics

  11. Religion and politics are both about human welfare. Welfare involves management. Management involves people. People are human beings; hence, intentionally or inadvertently,  politics and religion got mixed.

  12. It's hard to separate the two when people tend to use each (to some degree) to find identity. I think it's great to split the two as much as possible. But, everyone, regardless of their "religion" makes their political decisions based on their "worldview". So, essentially, everyone mixes politics and "religion" (since everyone has a worldview).

Side note: Are you aware that the "separation of church and state" is actually NOT in the constitution itself? It was a phrase that was invented later by a political figure. The constitution only tells us that there can't be one "religion" that every citizen is required to be a part of.
