Why can't you boot someone from a table when they sit there for over 5 minutes and never make a move?

I clicked on start and the other player clicked start. It was his move first. He has not touched anything or answered me for over 10 minutes now. Why can't I boot him? What purpose is it for me to look at a board that long. Why can't I exit the game at least without it counting me as abandoned game and a loss?

  1. You're playing chess, I assume? In most Yahoo games, there's an option when you create the table to set a 10 minute maximum per move. You should use that in the future, to avoid annoying situations like this. You should also set it to about half an hour per game.

Once the game is started, the system doesn't care how many moves have been made. If it's rated, one of the players have to give up, one way or another. If your opponent has unlimited time, he can just wait for you to give up and leave, and he automatically gets the win. It could be that he suddenly had to leave, and isn't intentionally trying to dupe a win. But who knows?

    Good luck, in any case.
