Why can't I claim tax credits? I filled out the application, and it said I didn't qualify, as i was under 25.

I just dont see what possible reason they could have for discriminating just because of that. I work full time, live alone, and am on a low income!

Does anyone know why the minimum age is 25? (I know it's less if you have a baby, but I'd rather not have kids yet, thanks).

  1. unfortunately that's the age the government set, under 25 are also restricted in housing benefit by only being entitled to a single room amount. The reason given by the government is that nationally there is a lot of money spent providing training and educational opportunities for 18-25 year olds and equality in benefits would impact on this.
