Why can't you put your heels firmly against a wall and then bend over without falling?

its a physics question and im not 2 sure how to answer it

  1. Your center of balance moves away from the wall as you bend over.  The wall blocks your ability to counter balance.

    So, as your center of balance moves past your feet, you fall.

    Physics answer:

    A person's center of gravity extends beyond the fulcrum of their feet, thus producing torque which is greater than the muscles of the toes can overcome.


  2. The force from the wall has horizontal direction

    Your weight has vertical direction

    So there is no equilibrium

  3. Normally when you bend over, your weight remains centered over your feet because you automatically extend your rear end to the .. rear..

    Look at someone who is leaning over, from the side, and you will see that the parts of the body forward of the feet are balanced by parts of the body behind the feet.

    Put your heels to a wall, and you can't push your rear end back to compensate and you fall over.
