  1. The recycling logo will usually indicate that an item is recyclable, but the number inside the logo tells you what type of plastic it is made from. Most municipalities only recycle certain types of plastic (often 1-2, or maybe 1-3). The higher numbers are not recycled everywhere.

  2. depends on what your local recycling program picks up and has the ability to process.Aways contact your local municipal office to get updates on what is and isn't pick up they can change .In our city they just started picking up foam trays and Styrofoam packaging materials

  3. You may not be able to recycle styrofoam locally (facillities may or may not exist).

you can definately reuse it in a different way... ie break it up into smaller pieces and use it as shipping "popcorn"...

if there isnt a way to recycle... find a way to reduce and reuse instead...

  4. Same reason you can't recycle newspapers, glass bottles or anything else recycleable ...

... recycling is only possible "where facilities exist".
