  1. the humidity in the air when rain is comming brings out other smells that you normally wouldn't smell

    the smell you smell is wet vegetation and wet dirt.

  6. You can't smell water because water has no sent. Rain is not water. Rain is rain with it's own chemical properties, one of them being it's own scent.

    Also, rain creates a sort of mist when it hits the ground causing other scents to float through the air, like an aerosol spray. Scents like the grass and pavement can be smelt easily with the help of this mist.
