Why can't you spell "funeral", with out the word "Fun"?

Well, I guess you could, if you spelled them phonetically...

"fyoo-ne-ral",  "slaw- ter".

if you can see the fun in funeral is prononced fune

and slaughter is prononced lauter

It is funny how words within words can mean total opposite things, isn't it?
