Why can't you use credit to buy lottery tickets?

Question

You can bet on games with your bookie without actually putting the money up front...why can't you play the lottery with a similar "promise to pay" system? At least with a credit card you have a legal paper trail. That's much more than you have with a bookie.

It seems like the lottery is a scam to me...somebody set me straight.

If you are ok playing the huge house advantage of a lottery, you should be ok with paying the surcharge for using your credit card at an atm for cash, this will dodge your problem.

I think the reason is simply that gambling on borrowed money is a bad idea and the rule is in place to detur it.

because the credit provider would technically own the loto ticket. Think....what if you won... 11 mil to Bank of America.

Because you normally have a limited amount of cash. Using your credit card would lead to an addiction in gambling and you eventually suing somebody because you racked up thousands of dollars on your credit card. Make sense?

Because most people when they use a cred it card ... they put it on credit.. ( hence the name credit card.. too many people misuse a credit card and charge things and maybe dont pay for it... a lottery is not going to use a credit card because of just that... why shopuld they pay out to someone that uses a credit card and hasnt made their payments... therfore they would get it for nothing... Thats why they ONLY take cash
