  1. Like "Ryan's Mom" said, it's because of safety and sercurity. Not all fast food restaurants will deny you service. Some have strict policies. Others don't encourage it, but will allow it.

  2. Why would you want to walk up to a drive thru? Truly believe this is a safety issue and there are reasons these worldwide fast food chains are set up this way.

  3. i have to say, i have walked up to drive thru windows before because i had my dog with me and since they cannot go into the dining area it was something i just had to do. I have never been refused to be served by any drive thru when i do that, i think they understood that i couldnt bring my dog in.

  4. i have seen people do so i guess you can.

  5. lol I had a friend who worked at Carl's Jr. on the drive-thru. A little old lady came through on her wheelchair, and ordered a chicken sandwich. They served her. I've walked through the drive-through at around 3 am and been offered service before.

  6. Its a drive thrue, cars come thrue there, people could get run over. What part of DRIVE THRUE do you not under stand?

  7. It's called a DRIVE THRU for a reason.

Why not walk into the store?

  8. Because it was invented for cars and they are somewhat worried about your safety in the drive thru. You CAN walk through a drive-thru, it depends on the person in the booth whether you'll have your order taken though.

  9. You are creating a safety hazard for yourself and the cars trying to oder.

  10. ~~ LOL.... I bet ya could........I have seen people walk up to a drive threw Bank teller.............hmmm,,,,,,,,,that gets me thinking,,,,,,,,,,,I might just park my car in the parking lot,,,,,,and walk threw the "drive thru window" ,,,,,will they really deny me...will they not take my order,,,,,,,will they not take my $$$. ??   hmmmmm,,,,,,,,I think a drive thru should accept a " walk" thru,,,,,,,,,,,,

  11. they used to let you but a major accident happened when someone walked up, broke the window and had a gun into a mcd's, plus suicidal reasons I suppose, some lays down in a drive thru no one knows he/she is their and BAM!,buh-bye...

  12. i do it all the time

  13. Like--you can.  I did it at McDonald's in Franklin, NC while having my car serviced nearby.  I even had my dog with me. Just do it--don't ask.

  14. Beacuse you use your car to drive, not walk. That's what drive-ins are for. I'm from Hawaii, and they have signs posted at the window stating you cannot walk up to the window nor bike ride. It's a safety issue.

  15. =]

  16. The reason you can't walk up to a drive thru window is for security reasons. Managers are trained to not allow crew members to take walk up orders. Well, most managers. LOL!

  17. Yes they can deny you..its for security and safety reasons..If you go up to the window and you spook the person..they can call the cops and say they are being robbed

  18. when your at the spot to get your order taken.. it is activated by the weight on the sensors.. your weight will not be heavy enough to activate them.. the only time that most drive thrus will take ur order is after their dining area is closed.. then you just walk up to the last window.. not the order taking window...

  19. bc the ppl who run them r complete and total a*s holes! i also think maybe bc u can get faster service that way and it would probably s***w the place up bc no one would come through the door anymore

  20. YOU CAN WALK THOUGHT THE WINDOW!!!! BUT YOU BETTER HOPE SOME ONE SEES YOU AT THE WINDOW BECAUSE THERE ARE SENSORS THAT READS WHEN THE CAR PULLS IN..... SO IN LESS YOU WEIGHT MORE THEN A CAR NO ONE WILL KNOW YOUR AT THE WINDOW.. AND BESIDES THERE CALL DRIVE THURS THE WALK INS ARE INSIDE HONEY! HOPE THIS HELPS

  21. they are intended for cars. not people to walk through

  22. because theyd have to change what it says on the sign, they couldnt call it a dive thru any more.

  23. most places will refuse to serve you due to safety concerns..  it is like you are standing in the road..

  24. Actually, YES, we CAN deny you food. #1. It is a safety issue. If someone was to come around the corner of the building in their car they could hit you. #2. It is a safety issue for the employees. It is harder for someone in a car to rob the cashier.

If you don't have a car go in the lobby, or get a job and buy a car. It's not the fast food community's fault that you can't get a car, or that you lost your license.
