Why can Federer fans not accept Nadal is a better player than Roger now?

Im sick of seeing sooo many resentful comments about Rafa just because he has dethroned the world #1. Why cant they just give credit to him and accept he has been playing awesome tennis this year ?! Is it that hard....I can understand to a point where there a little angry and sad because there Mr Federer is now going to be #2 but surely they can agree Rafa deserves to be #1. Not only for this year but Nadal has been playing a high level of tennis consistently for the past 4years!!! Anyway i just wanna see what responses i get, lol no doubt angry comments haha!

Would you except Roger is better than Rafa if Roger returns as #1? They support him, They won't give up on a cause that is by no means lost.

Rafa is boring? lmao those are the envious fans!!! If they think Rafa is boring on court then they are not true tennis fans because they obviously don't appreciate top quality tennis.

I totally agree :).  I mean, Federer fans are so defensive over him and can't seem to accept that Rafa is the best player in the world now.  Being a huge Rafa fan myself, I accept that, at one time, Federer was the best but not any more :-).  There's a new King in town haha !  Rafa has improved soooo much over the past few years and he deserves to move up a place in the rankings for that :).  Federer has been no.1 for such a long time and now it's someone else's turn lol.  And omg don't even get me started on people saying Rafa is boring !  They clearly wouldn't know amazing tennis if it came up and bit them on the bum lol :).  Rafa is an amazingly talented player and will continue to be so.  He totally deserves the number 1 spot and he will prove it by blowing everyone else off the court in the US Open haha !

I agree with you. He is number 1 now, because he is the best. How can you argue with that? He is an awsome tennis player. It is as simple as that. And he will be number 1 untill someone better then Nadal comes along.

i think it is because fed has won so many tournaments and made so many records and played some incredible tennis on a regular basis. I guess at the moment it is hard for them to take that Nadal is the superior player simply because they've always believed that federer was the better player and not just that because they thought he would be the greatest of all time, also the guy has such a great record it is hard to compare his record to anyone.

I think federer will get his 14 slams but i think he will seriously need to work for it like never b4 but those slams won't be 1 after the other like it use to be i think it will be more sporadic. As for Nadal he is a great player for a 22 year old he has won 5 slams, i would say realistically this guy has the potential to be the greatest in terms of achievement/records e.g. winning all slams in one calender year but there are young players who themselves have potential to fulfill e.g. your enemy Djoker,Murray,hopefully Gasquet coz he is great to watch especially that Backhand.

But yes Rafa is the best player in the world right now.

You know its hard right? Imagine if Novak had overtaken Nadal at number 2 during the clay season. Its not that easy to accept and theres always gonna be a tonload of resentment towards Nadal. I'm not that suprised at all these sudden Rafa haters- there used to be like 1 or 2 now it seems every person dislikes him. I'm sure the same backlash happened when Rog took over whoever as the top of tennis. I personally can admit that right now Nadal is the better player. Even on the hard courts, Federer sucks right now. Of course this is all form and it will all pass, I'm not gonna say Nadal is a greater talent than Rog, but thats just my opinion. As for his game, I don't think hes a boring player and I don't think I ever said that, but I don't particulary like his game style. But thats Ok, I still enjoy watching him, I just prefer the game of Roger. But regardless of all this, I still like Nadal despite him taking over the number 1 spot. I'm sure Rog isn't gonna start hating him anytime soon so neither am I. Oh and I don't believe that his modesty is false, I think hes the most humble guy in the top ten. Apart from maybe James Blake. So yeah, guess you'll just have to ignore it for now - it'll die down.

Roger Federer is clearly a better player than rafael nadal. I'll admit, Federer's recent form is terrible but you cant just say he is better just becoz federer has had a bad year. Look at the previous 5 years for gods sake!

Rafa is amazing, Federer is about as close to perfection any tennis player has ever come.  I'm not a fan of either, and while they both have incredible talent, Roger is simply the best.  He may not be #1 in the world, but how good do you have to be that when you become #2 in the world people say you are done?  He dominated tennis for the last couple years, and he is having a tough year, Rafa is playing great, and he is great, but he is not Federer.  Federer playing his best is simply the best... the only person who can touch him is Safin (when Safin is having one of his days, you know, when he can't miss?).  Either way, who cares?  It is just tennis...

they don't accep nadal as the best player 'cause he is the best player of the year so far, he has improved his game a lot this year, no doubt about it, but federer isn't at his best and he hasn't been all year so they don't think rafa deserves to be in a category of better player than federer 'cause he's not better than the best roger (or at least he hasn't had the chance to prove it yet), he's better than this roger and i think maybe that's what they don't accept about this whole situation

in any case they should accept rafa is the best player right now 'cause that's not gonna change, there's no point in denying it

Pesonally I have found a good majority of Federer fans very narrow minded and unfortunately for them Federer is not.  He gives credit where credit is due.  He even said Rafa deserved the win at Wimbledon and he didnt have to say that.  He is a wonderful champion and he's not going anywhere, so I dont understand their behavior when dealing with Rafa or anyone else.  

The only thing that makes sense to me is either the dont know a lot about tennis or they have a problem with change.  Well guess what life is a game and changing all the time and there's really nothing you can do to change others, you can only worry about yourself.

So instead of downing players whoever they may be, give credit where credit is due.  

#1 is a number, the only way to go from there is down.......so once your there things are expected and Roger dealt with that for what was it 4 years or so...I lost count he was so wonderful......AND Rafa said "I was happy at #2" soooooooooooo Rafa Haters, give the man a break he is a "deserving champing" that Roger said he is and just enjoy the game.

yea, of course Federer is the better player than Nadal as a whole.. I mean, Fed got 12 GS, and Nadal "only" 5.. He has 230+ consecutive (and total) weeks at number 1, and Nadal 0 week.. Federer's prize money is USD 41 Million, and Nadal's USD 20 million..

And again, you can not judge a player is better or not from the way he plays.. it's all about preferences, for either player and their fans...

is more "beautiful", and Nadal is the opposite, "dirty" or (Federer said it too) "awkward"...

But for Nadal's Fans, "Dirty" means more "exciting to watch", and "beauty" means "too sophisticated"...

I know what you mean Mandy, the only thing they seem to be able to pick at now (because Nadal is at this time a better player) is that Federer has 231 weeks at no.1, 12 GS and the fact that Federer is "elegant" as Nadal is "boring and workman like"

Firstly, I think its stupid to even talk about consecutive weeks at number 1 seen as Rafa hasn't even started his tenure at the top spot and noone can predict what the outcome is going to be when he gets there.

The next part of the argument, the Grandslams is again a really bad argument. At 22, Roger only had 1 Grand Slam, Rafa at 22 has 5, what does that say? They can't say Rafa is lesser of a player because he has achieved more than Roger at 22 (that including 12 AMS Shields), also he has 30 career titles, for gods sake!

And the real hot issue that really annoys me is when they say "he never attacks, he just waits for the unforced error, he grunts, he is like a builder, pirate pants etc." Its really stupid. Ok so can the Federer fans really tell me that Rafa didn't attack Roger in the FO final wherer Roger won just 4 games, can they say that about Wimbledon, yes Roger may have had more winners, but thats simply because of the amount of aces he produces. Not rally skill.

Talking about his appearance as well, and what he wears is just plain pathetic, you don't see mee mocking Roger's Blazer and Cardigans (what is this the 50s?) or his big hairy belly!!

Of course, we aren't allowed to say anything bad about Roger Mandy, otherwise we would be labelled "Nadal Lovers" who just say these things because "Federer is a better player".

Yet somehow on hear, Federer fans are allowed to say what they want because "they just can".

They won't admit it because they get jealous and it makes them embarrassed. Loyal Federer fans can't believe what is happening and refuse to give Nadal all the credit he has earned and deserved. Nadal has been amazing in the past few tournaments and was on a 32 match winning streak. Remember, he still is human and humans make errors and aren't perfect. He had to lose sometime. His loss to Novak brought everyone to further criticize him and say he is not a good #1 player and all the Fed fanatics went crazy. But I totally agree with your point.

Well, I'm a Federer fan.

Nadal has done way better than Federer this year so he deserves the number one though I'm not too happy about it.

But until he matches what Federer has done in the last four years, I would not say that he is the better than Federer except on clay.

While Nadal has the capability of hitting great winners, he generally defends and keeps putting the ball back in play and waits for the other player to make an error. I think there is some statistic that says that Nadal almost always wins the longer rallies. He would be far more exciting if he tried to finish the point quickly by hitting a winner.

Once Nadal has achieved half of what Federer has, say Like Federer's 12 grand slam titles and 230+ consecutive weeks and 3 or so years straight of being ranked number one, among many other things, then you can consider calling him a better player, However, Nadal has indeed been on a roll this year, and Federer hasn't quite been up to par, so I agree in that Nadal has earned it. Now lets see if he can pull away and hold it for a few years.....
