Question:

Why can I get Sky Broadband Connect, but not their Base proadband?

I pay £17 a month for their Connect product, as they say broadband isnt available in my area. However, their Base product is free and would be ample for me at 2mb (apparently my line will support 3mb).

So howcome they can offer me Connect but not their standard broadband?

  1. Sky started off their intenet business by buying EasyNet  and as a result their services (base, mid, max) are only available in areas covered by an EasyNet enabled exchange.

For customers whose local exchange has not been Easynet enabled, the Connect service is available using the BT Wholesale network and because Sky has to pay BT for the use of their exchange it costs a lot more to the customer.
