  1. It's new moon-- up during the day time.

    Wait a few more days---

  2. Clouds.

  3. Tonight is New Moon, so the Moon is too close to the Sun and too narrow a crescent to observe. It will be two or three nights before the Moon is far enough from the Sun to be observed just after sunset. Start your observations then.

  4. Today is a new moon... you won't be able to see the sun. Your teacher would probably be impressed if you explained that it was new moon, and how a new moon occurs, which someone else already explained.

So you won't be able to find the moon tonight.

What your teacher wanted you to do was observe the different lunar phases, and draw them. Fortunate for you, a new moon is a phase, so just draw nothing , because nothing is visible. If you want a picture of the different lunar phases, then I highly recommend you google "lunar phases".

    Good luck on your homework!

  5. One thing to add - after new moon, you will see the waxing crescent in the west setting just after the Sun. When I was five, I used to say that a Moon like this looked like a "smile in the sky."

Next month's waxing crescent should be pretty as by then Venus should be up high enough to appear with it.... I haven't looked this up though, just guestimating based on where it is now.

  6. It's only visible 10-12 hours a day from any location, unless you are on one of the poles or close to a pole. Check again in the daytime.

  7. It's been repossessed. The Earth is beind on it's mortage payments.

  8. It's currently close to the Sun, so you will probably have to wait a day or two for it to become visible in the west after sunset. Tonight (Sunday) it only sets about 15 minutes after the sun, as seen from Indiana, so you won't see it. On Monday evening, it sets 50 minutes after the Sun so you might catch it if you have a clear view of the western horizon. It will appear as a very thin crescent and the best time to look would be about 8.30 to 8.50 p.m. By Tuesday it should be easier to see, but still low down in the west from about 8.30 to 9.10 p.m.

  9. Today is the new moon

The moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun. Sunlight is currently hitting the side of the moon that we don't see, while the side that we see is all dark.

  10. Or it may not be in the sky at the time you are looking.

  11. did you try looking at night??

go online && look up 3 nights in a row & draw them as they appear online if you can't find it.

  12. The moon is presently near the new phase, which means it will rise around the same time as the sun. In two weeks, it will be full, and visible at night. If this assignment is due anytime soon, then tell your teacher that I said he or she isn't very bright for not taking the phase into account.
