It has been a few years now since my family and I moved away from Canada, I was born there and I was raised there for twelve years, to another country and I cannot get over my homesickness. Is there something that can help me get rid of it?

  1. Can you go back over the summer vacation, stay with grandparents or other relatives?

  2. Well you were there for the vast majority of your life, and all of your childhood, so it's understandable you have a hard time with homesickness.  Maybe don't think of it as "letting go" of your past, but accepting that it will always be a part of you, and you're a big enough person to assimilate into another culture while never forgetting your original one.

  3. move back ? just a thought

  4. You love your homeland. That is admirable. Try to find things in the Country you are living in now, that you could love about that Country. Ask your parents if they are homesick, and how they deal with it. Family should be as equally loved as Country/heritage. Represent yourself well. Teach "locals" about your Country, what is good, or bad. What is better there, or worse. Be honest about it. Perhaps some day you could be an International business-person, building a successful career, in BOTH Countries!
