  1. A blue Ray DVD wil play on a Blue ray equiped player.  Your computer is probably not Blue Ray rated, so you would need to change the drive later to be Blue Ray compatible.

Sony RDR is an older model.

  2. Really dude, Really?

  3. Because it isn't a Blu-Ray player.

This is all it can play back -

    "Record and playback on a wide range of DVD discs: DVD+R / DVD-R / DVD+RW / DVD-RW / DVD+R DL (Double Layer) "

Blu-Ray discs need to be played on special Blu-Ray players.

Most Blu-Ray players cost $400+ (entertainment center type) and for a computer drive cost around $130 for just a player or $300 for a burner.

  4. This appears to be a European model VHS/DVD combo recorder.  I believe all such combo's are standard DVD only.  It apparently records and plays back standard definition DVDs only, and I assume maybe lets you record from VHS to standard  DVD.  It is not an HD-DVD or BluRay player however.

  5. As others have said you need a blu-ray player but more importantly you need Vista, Blu-ray drives only play through Vista and wont work on XP

  6. im not familiar with the Sony product... is it a blu ray disc player? or does your computer have a blu ray drive? if not they wont play them...you need a compatible drive

  7. Yeah all these people are right its not a blu-ray disc player and they do have them for computers but they are like $400 now. Its a different technology then DVD so if you feel like spending to much for a new technology go for it.

  8. If you have XP and a Blue-Ray drive try: ANYDVD HD from Slysoft.com

  9. you need to get a blu-ray disc drive for your computer in order to watch them

  10. The same reason why it won't make toast.

    It's not made to.
