Why can I not view blueraydisc on my hddvd player?

panasonic 1080p cant play dvd blu-ray disc....can someone help me with this?

because you need a blu-ray player to play blu-ray discs.. duuh

Just a thought.....some places that sold HD DVD players are taking them back if the money is put towards a BluRay player.  I know of only one that is 100% confirmed doing this but it tells me you should contact the place you bought it and try to do that.

the two are different formats completely. like how you can't play a DVD on a CD player. (or a video through a toaster)

Blueray is a different format I am waiting for a player to come out that plays both. Just like the transistion from VHS to DVD

hd players are completely different from blueray.  you'd need a different player

because blu-ray movies need there own player like the HD-DVD movies need an HD-DVD player.

Oh, you made the wrong choice in buying the hd-dvd. It has gone the way betamax went in the 80's. I would try to sell it as fast as you can. put it on ebay for cheap or something.

I'm surprised people aren't nice about this.

The HD-DVD player is designed to play HD-DVD Discs. The player is specifically designed to unscramble and read the compressed data in which the HD-DVD consists.

Same with the blue-ray disc.

With your situation. The HD-DVD Player attempts to read the Blue-ray disc, but it is encoded in a language that only the Blue-Ray player can understand.

It also has to do with the bios installed in both systems.

The bios is specifically designed.

The best example I can give you is, putting a PS2 disc in an X-box console. As you already know, this would definitely not work.
