  1. I think the logistics of having enough conducting agents in the right place,  plus as the one weather guy said, storing it would be the other issue.


  2. Its too hard to capture it. Lightning strikes too sparadically.

  3. The biggest problem is in the ability to store that energy.  Lightning, while being plentiful across the globe as well as in good storms, is a very short lived event.  Even if we could somehow get it to strike a receptor of some sort, there is no way that I am aware that the energy could be conducted to a storage unit capable of storing the energy in the very short amount of time that the lightning strikes.
