Why can i never understand what black people say??

i work at a fast food place and theres 4 black guys that work there....i can literally understand about 50% of the words they say i just repeat everything they say to clarify what their saying but sometime i cant and its akward as h**l to look at them in the face and have to say what 5 times and finally just say i cant understand you..........is it common for people to have this problem i mean honestly it sounds like every word they say is just a mumble.........and no....im not prejudice at all i hang out with them more than anybody else at work

Not all black people sound alike, or maybe your auditroy nerve was severed and you're unable to hear people of the darker persuasion when they speak eloquently. See, we DO know big words!

I have a hard time understanding what a lot of people with accents have to say, not just black people. Some black people are easy to understand, others aren't. Same with white people that talk differently...

Some people just don't speak the same way as you.

If you ask them instead why you dont understand them, I am sure you will get a suitable reply. I would love to be there.

If you could not understand me that would mean you don't understand English. I can put on a posh accent too.

Anyone who doesn't have proper education most likely won't say their words clearly. They also won't have correct grammar. Like the girl said, there are plenty of rednecks who can't speak proper English, even though they've been living in America all their lives.

Try telling them that they are in England and should speak English.

If that fails, or any of them play a race card,do the following......You should stop working properly, get sacked and take your employers to a tribunal for constructive dismissal, citing racial discrimination, in that you were excluded from conversation and unable to follow instructions because these idiots were talking mumbo jumbo and not English.
