Why can i only use black and white colours on photoshop cs3 and cannot change them? ?

when i want to change the colour of text etc. it wont let me change it from black or white, and i dont know why, can someone help me?

in photoshop go up to image,>>>mode>>>see if its in grayscale if so change it to RGB. hope that helps!

You do need to be in RGB mode. If the only thing not changing is the text, after you type the text, select it, then change the color. It has to be selected with the type tool before you can change the color.

Well most likely you can click on the color saquares to change the colors before you type whatever you need to type. If you want to change the color then highlight the text, and click the color square that should be on the toolbar.
