Why can perfume be smelt by many meters away?

is it to do with ions moving by diffusion? Could anybody explain this to me? ^^;

  1. as we know ester that causes good smell is being derived from alcohol which is has high volatility. hence, ester is also very easy to vaporize.


  2. No, not ions. Perfume is made of liquids that vaporize easily so as soon as you spray it the liquid starts to vaporize. As the liquid vaporizes it also diffuses through the air which is why you can smell it from meters away.
