Why can the fishes have breething underneeth surfices of water?

When they do it how and their still be alive for a long time? I tryd to do it in the pool and my throte hurts. Is there speshul stuff in my fishes waters that can make them to have breething down there?

  1. they have gils that help them breath through water, but the wierd thing is that they can ONLY breath through water.

  3. Fishes are made of scales. Because they have room between their scales, there is allowed for air to get to their body/organs.  With this air, they also infuse their lungs with oxygen, thusly allowing breath to happen.

    That said, the water they're in must be aerated somehow.
