Question:

Why can those paranormal shows ever catch anything significant on TV?

I use to watch a lot of those shows and 95% of what I saw could either be explained or looked fake. Just wondering if there are any genuine paranormal events caught on TV. I don't mean UFOs as I know that has been caught many times.

  1. Far and few between. I know what you mean.

Here is the problem they sell x number of those shows a year and the only way to fill them is with documented evidence.

There are shows going back into the '60 and '70s that were just half hour shows that came on maybe once a year that gave you the real thing.

There isn't enough photographic evidence to put on 36 hour long shows a year if you know what I mean? -no money in it

But the half hour specials now those are something special.

That's why it's the money. They spend an hour talking about what someone thought they saw. If they put all the hard photographic evidence captured in a year on at the same time there wouldn't be enough showtime for two commercials.

  2. I think it is because they are just tv shows that are shot in a short time.  For an investigation to really capture evidence it would take days or maybe even months of investigating in one location.  I lived in a haunted house and we didn't experience paranormal activity constantly.   We might find the furniture rearranged one day and not experience another thing for several weeks.   Paranormal events don't happen just because a tv crew is on scene.   I would love to see a show where the investigation ran for a very long time and all the evidence presented at the end.

  3. Because TV broadcasters are after ratings above all else. Doesn't matter if they fail at the attempt, people are still going to watch out of curiousity. The more people that watch a show, the more people are going to see the advertisements ~ That's where the bulk of TV broadcasters money comes from.

If they did manage to capture something truly unexplainable, do you really think they'd be allowed to broadcast it on national TV?

  4. These shows, like Ghost Hunters, or Paranormal State, etc... have two things going against them. One they need to sustain ratings for their host network, so letting the cat out of the bag (if in fact there is a cat) too early is a non-plus. Second, and specifically for Paranormal State, it's fake. They aren't actually doing any sort of recognizable paranormal investigating. TAPS has also engaged in a sort of trickery to garner interest, notably with the use of the K2 meter during the Sharon Tate investigation in which they claim to use as a conduit between worlds. In fact they were turning the meter on and off, there is a youtube video that showcases this, also my paranormal group, PIU Colorado has a K2 meter and has run tests on it and can create the same kind of reading that TAPS got, but without all the nonsense. So by never finding anything tangible, but by keeping the viewers interest by forgeries and by vague interpretations of events it prolongs the run of the show.

  5. Because none of that paranormal stuff exists. Those shows just make stuff up to make money.

  6. You have to remember that there is a lot that can be done with film these days.  Special effects are fantastic.  It is for this reason, and phonies, that it is so hard to believe these paranormal shows.  There is a new one coming this Fall called Ghost Adventurers that seems promising.  I saw their 2 hour movie on the SciFi channel.  They did catch some significant paranormal activity.  I used to like Most Haunted, but I think they have TOO much activity for it to be real.

  7. As Mean kitty says, I would love a show that is a "Team Special" of compilations of footage at various locations.

Just turning up at a place and expecting a whole show is a bit rediculous - just as sitting in a field and expecting a crop circle to appear.

I think any serious researcher see Most Haunted as pure entertainment, but I did see a whole batch of people come and go from the group when it first came on.

There are other shows which seem to get entertainment from scaring celebs on camera.

I would love to see a show that goes deeper in depth after a week on site, to compile a report and show the research needed to uncover a places history.

Quite by accident, I saw a past event in a coffee shop - that happened in the 1700's - of primative dentisty and surgery. The information I recieved was strong enough to research it fully - and find the exact name of the surgeon, dated at 1753, find his living relatives in America (when he moved to follow the gold rush and discoveries in a new anaesthetic - Ether), and uncovered intriguing facts of pre-anesthetic operations, back street surgeons, and the gruesome trade in bodies to the medical universities at Aberdeen and Edinburgh at the time......... That's got to be worth putting out on TV ?

  8. I'd like to know why these Ghost Hunters are not using a TUNER?  While this device picks up a REAL sound.  Not just infer sound on a digital device. A TUNER can tell you if it is a viable sound.  Even a bump in the night has a tone.  Be it D# or F#, or E, G, C.   If a ghost hunter took one of these with them, and kept quiet...he might find infer sound recorded in keys...matching his voice recorder, matching his video.  But my problem with ghost hunters and the like is their constant talking.  Someone needs to get these sounds on tape without interupting the ghoast.

  9. The paranormal cannot be documented. Only a few people experience ghosts and things considered paranormal. Paranormal is not normal or else it would not be paranormal would it?

I have seen ghosts and experienced things considered paranormal but not every day or even every year.  My experiences are few and far between.

  10. Those shows are just to distract you from the real paranormal phenomena that is going on, which the government is trying to hide.  Reverse vampires, telephone explosions, jello enucleation, and spontaneous dental hydroplosion.  These are the things that the government is trying to hide while distracting you with "ghosts".

  11. first of all... i wouldnt believe anything they call "real" on tv... cuz they are out for ratings and attention more than anything...  and they will lie to you without any remorse

tv land is a very cut throat place... freakin cannibals

  12. Ghost Hunters has picked up a few things, whether from EVP's, on film, or by using their thermal imaging camera.

In Gettysburg, PA, they went to a Bed & Breakfast. During the Civil War, the residence was used as a hospital / morgue.

So as Jason and Grant were in the basement pointing the camera towards another door, they caught the image of a soldier.

In my opinion, Paranormal State doesn't show anything significant.

At the end of the show, they say a prayer and then make the statement that no more activity has happened.

And then of course, Most Haunted is such a load of c**p that even if something paranormal did happen, you wouldn't be able to believe it.
