Why can you obtain a fiancée visa faster than a spousal visa?

With a Spousal visa, your already married, so shouldn't that be faster than a fiancée visa where you bringing a person to the U.S. that is NOT yet your spouse??

  1. that is a good question. the only answer is because that is the way uscis says to do it. for some strange reason it is much easier, cheaper, and quicker to bring a person over here on a fiancee visa and marry them here(within 90 days) than it is to marry them in another country and bring them here. i also have real life experience in this area because  my fiancee and i actually had to decide on which type of visa to use and where to get married at. uscis told us that if i went over to the phillipines and got married instead of marrying her here the results would be an extra 4 months of waiting time for her to come here and they also said that my case would be reviewed much harder if i came over to the phillipines and got married instead of bringing her over here and getting married in the united states. i really really wanted to give my fiancee(now my beautiful wife of two months)  a big wedding in front of all her family and friends. but after learning how the visa process works(its very hard on you and your fiancee), we decided to go with a fiancee visa and get married over here. i did talk to several people who came over both ways before deciding  and the clear consensus seemed to be for the fiancee visa. i hope this helped and good luck whatever way you decide.

  2. In actuality, immigration officials state there is no "better" or "faster" or "more efficient" way to do it, and no way to "mix and match". No matter what you do, it will take time, money and patience. Both types of visas have advantages and disadvantages.
