Allstate tells me that per company policy they cannot sell me back my totaled vehicle. Anyone ever had this problem. Because About 1-1/12 years ago I bought back my wife's totaled car from them.

  1. It's possible your state has now passed a salvage law.  Many are trying to prevent cars with major damage from being put back on the highways as they can be a safety problem.

  2. Sounds like Allstate is still "conducting the investigation" and can't/won't release the evidence.  They have to complete their findings before they pay you anything.  That's understandable.

  3. Depending on what state you live in and how old your vehicle is, the salvage laws may state that the owner cannot retain the salvage.

Call allstate and ask them for a specific answer as to why you cannot keep the totalled vehicle. If you ask, they will tell you. And if they say its a condition or clause in your policy, well then, shame on you for not reading your policy
