Why cant I get addicted to smoking cigarettes.?

Question

I took my first puff at 14...never bought a pack, but I do have one per month maybe when Im drinking or off of something...btu other than that I can stand to be int he same room as someone smoking a cigerette...

I think you have to actually enjoy smoking to get addicted, at least in the beginning.  I loved smoking from the 1st puff and I still enjoy it now.  I became addicted because when I started, I wanted to smoke several times a day, before I knew it, my body craved it every hour or 2.

I've heard that it takes about ten cigarettes in a relatively short period of time (1-3 days) to cause addiction. I don't recommend testing this theory though.

One per month is unlikely to get anyone addicted. Maybe a p*****n. h**l, I smoked half a pack a day in junior high school and I could go without for days or weeks if I had to -- I didn't really get addicted until I was smoking more often and more regularly.

Also note that not everyone does get addicted to cigarettes. It depends on what genes you have. Some people don't make the receptor sites that nicotine binds to. Those people can smoke all they want without getting hooked.

You can get addicted to smoking cigarettes, just like anyone else can.  But the addiction to nicotine is not instant, taking one puff at 14 and then having one per month will not get you addicted.  Smoking every day will get you more and more addicted the longer you do it.  You don't want that since nicotine is even more addictive than cocaine or heroin.
