Why cant I recall certain peoples face and others just fine?

I just recently lost my job and someone I really came to like I

cant even recall their face now, others in the office I can recall

just as vividly as I see my own face. The same thing occured

when I lost my mother I couldnt recall her face for months

- why is that?

Our subconscious mind work in a mysterious way.  Sometime things flashed into our subconscious mind, they can stay there and reside for a long time.  It all depends on individuals.

When you are able to recall love one's face, that may just mean the brain being blank.  That does not mean you don't remember, it just means that things may cover what you are trying to remember in  your subconscious mind.

That memory may still remains, but not showing up the second you want either in dream or in reality
