Why cant car's used windmill technology and electricity and solar power?

electricity to get the car going.and the tire rotating to cause friction like a windmill to recharge the battery like a altenator on a car. not to run the car be keep but the battery charged

and solar power to help maintain balance of power

  1. You are talking about a perpetual motion machine, which is impossible.

    Connecting a generator to the cars wheels is counterproductive, you would use more energy than you produced.  A net loss of power. Just think, if it produced more, then you would be creating energy out of nothing.

    The same thing applies to a wind turbine attached to the car. It takes more extra energy to move the car then the turbine produces, again a net loss.

    Adding things that cause a net loss of power is like dragging a rock behind you on a rope. It does no good and wastes energy.

    These types of cars also seem to have bad performance compared to gasoline powered cars (accelerate slower, have shorter range, etc.).

    And solar powered cars work only when it is sunny outside.

    But many hybrid cars use friction from the brakes to recharge batteries.

Well, we do have hybrid vehicles that use regeneration to get back some of the otherwised wasted energy when breaking.  But please..do not get into th eperpetual motion thing .  Any energy regenerated must be generated first by gasoline or electricity, which ultimately is supplied by fossil fuel.  Dont get the impression that if you start a car moving with an electric motor and battery, and even mount a winmill device that spins as the car moves, trying to charge the battery...it wont work!  If you put  a windmill, or propeller device on a vehicle, and turn a generator trying to recharge the battery you are using to move the vehicle in the first place..you are wrong.  Whatever energy you would be able to produce with the  windmill attachment, would be used up by the battery due to the  extra force needed to push teh vehicle forward and turn that winmill/generator.   You would end up with a net loss of energy, not a gain, and actually discharge the cars battery faster!

    Solar panels that would have any significant charging power, other than a minor trickle charge, would be so large and heavy, would probably end up a negative also, due to the added weight and loss of aerodynamics of the vehicle!

  4. You are asking why perpetual motion machines aren't common place.

    Energy cannot be created of destroyed only converted.

    Converting chemical energy into mechanical energy to power the wheels (loss of 95% of the original energy into heat and exhaust).

    Converting mechanical energy into electrical energy (loss of 75% of the mechanical energy due to heat and electrical resistance) - this means that the mechanical energy is lost to convert into heat and electricity.

    You only have about 3% of the original energy remaing and some of that is lost in the battery as electric resistance.

    Solar power only converts about .5% of the energy from the sun into electricity due to limitations in the technology. You must have a perfectly clear day and solar panels without material defects and low resistance wiring to get enough energy to offset the energy loss in a vehicle.

    The vehicles that due use these technologies are expensive and do not pay for themselves over time.

    The more complicated a machine is the more chances of failure and the requirement of repair. Repairs can be costly.
