Why cant i be a manager ?

I have over 6 years of retail experiance, ive never had any problems or issues with the public and iam not timid but iam still your basic bottom level clerk Serious answers only please.

  1. My retail managers are really big on education so that might be a factor. I don't know if it's for all areas of management but it couldn't hurt. Why not try talking to current managers and ask what it took for them to get there. =)


  2. Let management know that you want to move up.  They aren't mind readers.  You have to let it be known.  After you tell them, you need to ask what you need to do to move up.  Managers have a lot on their minds and not everyone gets noticed - make yourself seen.

  3. Company owners expect their managers to be able to spell. Have you taken any college level management courses? Have you contributed any ideas to increase sales or present products well in displays? Have you helped new employees to learn what you know? Your immediate supervisor is watching for people to promote.
