  1. This is a question better answered by Computer techs.

The Samsung Manual has a chart in it showing you the refresh rates that it can handle through the Pc input---then you need to make the refresh adjustments in the PC.  If the PC is older you will most likely not have the capability of making those changes---you need a newer and/or higher end video card with capable drivers in order to do it.

  2. Make sure that you are connecting the cable coming from an output in your laptop, into an input in your TV. Then, press either FN+F5 or FN+F8 to get the display on your TV, and to change the display combination.

  3. First of all try Fn+F7 ( choose HDMI only - if you use HDMI cable). Also check "source" button on your TV If still no joy, then go to Vaio Control Center and look for the option that allows you to change the way your TV is detected by your Vaio (you need to check the box). If stiil not ok, then check on www.vaio-link.com for BIOS updates for your model. If there is none then there is nothing you can do :( This is the explanation:

This might be due to CEC, which is an optional specification to the HDMI standard. Different manufacturers have different interpretations of CEC, thus causing problems with HDMI compliant devices from different manufacturers.

Please consult the user manual of your TV to disable the CEC option for at least the HDMI port which is used to connect your VAIO to the TV.

Please note that some Sony Bravia TV models might also be affected by this.
