Why cant i connect to my wireless network(MAC)?

i have a mac laptop and evrytime i connect to a network all the bars turn black but as soon as i go on safari or firefox it say that im not connected i need help please help me..

I have had a similar problem, but what I did was go into System Preferences, and select Network. When you have the right connection, look for Location. You should be on automatic. Press Edit Locations and make a location this way your computer knows where you are. It has worked for me and I hope it works for you.
