I have a Dell Latitude D410. I have recently set up my Westell VersaLink modem for wireless. When I search for networks with my Wireless Configuration Utility I see mine, but when i add it to my network list and try to connect it doesnt do anything. In the log it says 03:53:17,

Sun, Jul 13, 08 Connecting to "07B409060618"...

03:53:17, Sun, Jul 13, 08 Using "Open" authentication mode

03:53:17, Sun, Jul 13, 08 Using "WEP" encryption

03:53:21, Sun, Jul 13, 08 Disconnecting from current network

Can anyone help?

  1. Just a possibilty but when you setup your VersaLink, did you enable MAC filtering?  If you did, you will have to enter the computers MAC 07B409060618 into the allowed table!

Not sure, I have never had an issue like you describe but that is one thought that would cause your problem.

Do setup your connection without encryption, once you have it all talking, then enable encryption!  Much easier to get going.  You may also find you need to update the firmware on the router - or the Driver on the Dell!

  2. Do you enter the WEP code when you asked?
