Why cant i get perscribed to xanax?

my doctor gave me hydroxyzine for anxiety i took it 3 times hated it it made me feel like a zombie i went to mental health yesterday for the first time and she said they dont persribe benzos cause there highly addicting... i told her i took xanax a couple of times before and they really helped me out cause they do if you have a panic attack and u take one it works like a miracle and it just made me feel a lot better... So why do so many people on this site take benzos for anxiety and i cant get them... i mean i really dont wanna buy them off of people u know?? so is there no luck for me to get perscribed to them?? i heard if u go to diff doctors u will have luck at a doctor giving u that... anyways any info thanks! oh and i understand about the xanax being addicting cause the first night i took them i wanted to take them every night i took it 7 nights in a row that was like 2 weeks ago and now i think about if only i had a xanax...

This is obvious...You already have a history of abusing the drug. Doctors are monitored on the number of certain types of prescriptions written. Drugs like xanax, sleeping pills, and painkillers are highly monitored due to the high abuse rates. No doctor in their right mind would prescribe it to you when you are a self proclaimed abuser. Drugs also are not the answer to anxiety. Therapy is much more effective. Drugs are made for people with chemical imbalances, not people who just can't deal with life and want to get high. If you had any sense at all you would stay far away form that drug. Xanax can actually alter your body chemistry which is why it is so addicting. It can be very dangerous the way you are using it. In my opinion, that drug, (along with a few others) should just be taken off the market. They do far more harm than good, and then children, like yourself, get their hands on them and cause permanent damage to their bodies.

well if you go to the doctor asking for a specific drug sure enough aren't going to give you it because they are assuming you are going to abuse it and telling the doctor that you have taken them before and weren't prescribed that wasn't so smart you'll probably never get prescribed that doctors know best just like me they try different drugs til they can get the right one

Lol.  You just described the reason why you should not be prescribed Xanax.

A lot of people's doctor's are lazy and don't have the best interest of their patients in mind.  People should go through beta blockers and antidepressants for anxiety before benzos are even considered.  I'd bet that a lot of ppl on here have already gone that route, too.  You actually are getting quality care.  Appreciate it.
