Why cant i get the hang of 8 gears in a lorry 4 0ver 4?

Because you dont try hard enough !

It is so simple to use. It's called "Double Split Box"

Bang the gearshift to the leftt and use the first four gears like on any cars.1,2,3,4 then bang the gearshift to the right, after fourth gear and carry on using it like a four speed box. This will give you 5,6,7,8.

Need practice and it becomes so easy.

Try thinking of 4 gears for faster speeds and 4 gears for very slow speeds.  So moving away and very slow speeds you use the 4 gears with the button down.  Then once you get a bit faster now you can put the button up and change into the 'first' gear of the 4 normal positions and use these 4 higher gears quite normally.

Sounds similar to what you get in some setra coaches - nightmare but stick at it and keep trying, the hardest is when your driving a normal 6 speed coach in the morning, then one of them in the afternoon, and then you drive your car home in the evening and get thoroughly confused!!
