Why cant i just eat!?

i hate that im the only one refusing to eat with my friends its really hard for me to eat in front of other people does anyone know why?? it took me like four monthes to get used to eating in front of my friends at lunch ugh i hate it everyones like omg stop being anorexic and eat and i cant even if i want to haha so basically what im asking is does anyone know why cause even i cant think of a reason

I believe you when you say your not anorexic.  This sounds like what I went through during my high school years.  It comes from shyness and the only solution is to either get used to eating with your friends or find a way to go home for lunch (which I don't know if your school allows).  Try to work on this problem gradually, if you have a best friend tell him/her about how you feel and see if they will help divert your attention elsewhere.  I wish you luck!

  3. Sounds like it could be some form of social anxiety. I have it too, to some extent. You are obviously afraid to eat in front of others, possibly because your embarrassed what others will think of you when you eat (or what you eat). Maybe your afraid you'll throw up if you eat, and embarrass yourself that way.

    Eating at home is probably much easier for you, as this is where you've been eating all your life, and you don't care what your parents or siblings think of your eating habits, as you've known them for so long.

    You need to try and generate your thoughts away from yourself in some way. Think of the people around you at the table, think of what they're thinking about or saying, but do not think of how you feel or how others may feel about YOU. Maybe poke fun at what someone else is eating (or how they eat) so everyone draws their attention to that person, and away from you.

    Do this on a daily basis and it will become second nature, and you will soon get used to eating in front of your friends.

    it's common.

    It's a little bit of " self-consciousness".

    By them bringing it up to you makes it worse because it brings more attention to you. In other words, your in the focus of the situation.

    Everybody is looking at you. Your front and center.

    The cure?

    Time.

    When you realize that it really doesn't mean anything, you'll outgrow it.

    Same with other "phobias"( if I can use that word) because everyone has one.

    You'll be OK.

    Time and patients and feeling more comfortable around people will be the cure all.

    No biggy, you'll do well.

    ( I don't believe it has anything at all to do with anorexia either).

    You do eat when your not with your friends ( I'm assuming).
