  1. i have the same trouble. maybe not to the degree you do. my son has aspergers and also has trouble with eye contact.

i beleive it has something to do with the intensity of making eye contact, its uncomfortably powerful. that is with strangers, mostly.

i notice too, that i can look in a persons eyes much easier when they are speaking, as soon as they finish, i tend to look off to the right of them and formulate my response. oftentimes they will look back (like...what is this girl looking at?) its a hard habit to break, but it can be made better i beleive with practice. my son has been counciled for years on deliberately improving his eye contact, and i have seen much improvement.

    all the best :)

  2. Maybe you are not confident about what you are saying.  If you are secure in your speech you will have the courage to look someone straight in the face and talk.

  3. Based on same experience, i feel that the reason being is because we are rather too polite. Hence, we find it rather rude to look at the person's eye or we are a person of detraction , we like to move about and fiddle with things and hate to just be at one direction at a moment. i am not so sure if you would agree but for me i just dunno how to look to the person's eye , i find that when i do , i end up staring.

  4. maybe your just not confident when you talk

    hope i hellpd :]
