Why cant i play music at full volume.?

okay i have an old after market kenwood cd deck. i have my 6x9 playing threw it and and at like volume 26 with the bass all the way down the sound becomes distorted. why, i know my speakers can handle way more. is there any way i can keep it clear off the deck or do i have to get an amp

  1. get base blockers from the audio store their 4 dollers for two and will help clean up the sound alot. also turn the stereo off and lightly push on the speaker with your ear next to it if you hear a scratching noise its the voice coil rubbing and means the speakers are damaged


  2. What do you mean by full volume? Do you mean all the way up on the head unit? Or are your speakers not playing at normal volume when the distortion occurs.

    1) If you are wanting to crank an aftermarket head-unit all the way up on stock speakers, you will probably damage the speakers or just get lousy performance. Aftermarket head units typically have higher wattage, and to get full potential, you need speakers made to handle that wattage.

    2) if your speakers are sounding rough at normal volumes, you probably have some speaker damage already.
