  1. PS2 play abck is hardware based (ie theres a chip used in the Ps2 included with the BC PS3's)

however the memory card is made using the PS3 firmware, and to make it easier all the Ps3's have the same firmware to stop problems, rather than have a different one for to remove the option to make a PS2 memory card.

all Ps3's can play Ps1 gmaes though, no need for the Chip, Ps3 is powerful enough to prettend its a PS1.

  2. It depends on which ps3 version u have. You must have the 40GB version which is missing the emotion chip to play PS2 games. You should have gotten either the 20GB,60GB, or the 80GB version. If you recently bought it the PS3, you better take it back soon and get it exchanged!

  3. On 40GB that point in the menu is used for PS1 games (all PS3 versions play PS1 games).

  4. well you don't have it assigned to slot one so when you save you press the ps button go to assign slots and and put it on slot one then exit it and save it like you would normally do

  5. It depends on the version of PS3 you have. The 40GB one isn't backwards compatible.

Also, some PS2 games just don't work on the PS3.
