  1. Sooner or later it will flood

  2. They tried it in New Orleans and it didn't work out so well.

  3. Used as a city, the entire basin?  The basin is nearly as large as the continental United States!  That would be many, many times the largest city in the world.

There are some cities deep in the Amazon basin, however.  Manaus is an example.

Generally, the reason there are not more cities there is because the surrounding countryside doesn't provide as much food as farmland would, and it would be very difficult to convert vast tracts of rain forest to farmland (not to mention an ecological disaster).  Since most things needed to sustain a city can't be produced there, the cost of living is high.

If things were otherwise, the basin would be very densely populated.

  4. It could flood at any time.

  5. Well, they're sort of doing that - it's called clearing the rain forest.

Besides, most cities are located at a lexis that provides jobs.  Lumber, manufacturing, farming, mining, transportation, services are common reasons to have a city nearby but it also needs infrastructure (roads, phones, power, water).

True, the Amazon gives them access to easy transportation but the rest of the infrastructure must be created too.

  6. one word banana's

  7. Don't be trollin'. There's enough confusion in the world.

  8. it floods, sometimes and in some places 14 to 20 feet deep

the underlying structure is something like that in new orleans and they don't have a government that will maintain cofferdams to keep the water out

  9. because of the anacondas

they would not like the sewer system

imagine one crawling out of the toilet in your house.

  10. I dont know!

  11. Brazil is plenty of space to live on.
